8/17/2023 0 Comments Reddit severe calculus buildup![]() Within two weeks I noticed my gums stopped bleeding when I flossed, so I was happy about that. So, for the past two months I have religiously been brushing twice a day, using normal toothpaste and string flossing in the morning and using the fluoride toothpaste and waterpik at night. So, she gives me toothpaste with fluoride, tells me to invest in a waterpik and an electric toothbrush, and tells me to brush and floss twice a day, using the fluoride toothpaste at night and to not rinse afterwards. She goes on to tell me it could be possible I moved from a place with fluoride in the water to a place with no fluoride (which I confirmed afterwards to be true) and it really affected my teeth. She also assumes I haven't been to the dentist in years and I tell her I just got cleaned 6 months ago. She tells me I have much more plaque than what is normal during a cleaning and that I am in the early stages of gingivitis. So, I plan to get to the cavities taken care of and move on to the hygienist to get my teeth cleaned. After telling him it has only been 6 months since my last cleaning, his answer is that some people just sometimes develop an influx of cavities in their mid 20's for no reason. Now, I go to the dentist who tells me I have FOUR cavities (after 25 years of having 0) and that my mouth is abnormally full of plaque and assumed I hadn't been to the dentist for years (even though I've always gone every 6 months). ![]() But, I never had any cavities and the dentist always said my mouth was fine, so I never had any reason to change it.Ībout two months, it was time for my 6 month cleaning and I had to go to a new dentist as I had moved 4 months prior to that. I would brush mostly only once a day and rarely flossed, maybe twice a month. ![]() Okay, my whole life I grew up with a not so great dental hygiene routine. ![]()
